Radstadt – the heart of the region Ennspongau

The 700 year old city Radstadt im Pongau in the Salzburg Land area is located on a terrasse which was completely mounted in the 13th, century. Radstadt was the only city in the province of Salzburg to gain the grant privileges of a town in 1289. The following years Radstadt successfully battled many conflagrations, Peasants’ war in 1525/26 and the flow of refugees during World War 2nd.

Radstadt offers a great variety of cultural festivals. In honor of Paul Hofhaimer, the most famous Radstadt citizen, the annual Paul Hofhaimer music festival takes place in Radstadt. He was a famous organ player and composer who played for the emperor Maximilian I. Besides our famous citizen the cultural program in Radstadt includes diverse workshops as well as an open air movie theatre with great movies.
